Wedding Day Rituals

The wedding day is the pinnacle of the festivities, filled with colorful rituals that are not only visually stunning but also deeply rooted in cultural and religious significance. These customs showcase the rich heritage of the Punjabi community.

Post-Wedding Rituals

Even after the wedding day, Punjabi families continue to celebrate with post-wedding rituals that symbolize the bride’s departure from her parental home and her warm welcome into her new family. The Doli ceremony involves the bride being carried in an ornately decorated doli (palanquin) from her parents’ home to her new home, amidst singing and dancing. The Reception ceremony is a grand celebration where the newlyweds are showered with blessings and gifts by loved ones.
